H. S. Diploma and GED

It's never too late to finish high school!

Call 427-4830 for an appointment with the advisor at the Learning Center and you will find out:

How many credits you already have towards your diploma (Bring your transcripts!)

About options for earning credit from your past work experience, military service, on-the-job training, community college, and/or secondary schooling!

Ways in which you may be able to earn credits for a high school diploma by passing the GED.

About the two different types of secondary programs offered at the Adult School:

  • Option 1:  High School Diploma
This is the place to review basic skills, refresh learning techniques, earn credit toward a high school diploma, use comptuers for skill-building or research, and gain self esteem.  All work is individualized to meet the specific needs of the student.  High school credit may be assigned based on completion of course competencies.  Book deposits are required for some courses.  Students must attend a minimum of 1 hour per class visit.  After one hour, students must attend in increments of a half hour.   Call 427-4830 to schedule required assessment and advisor appointments prior to registration.  Concurrently enrolled high school students must be referred by a high school counselor, but do not need to be assessed.
A student will earn up to 2.5 semester credits for each 3 hour class meeting once a week for 10 weeks. Credit may be assigned based on  completion of course competencies.

  • Option 2:  GED Test Preparation Classes and Exam

Students can improve their skills in reading, writing and math and prepare to take the GED test.  Our individualized instruction allows students to focus on the specific skills they need to pass the test.  Computers are available for use but no previous computer skills are required.  Call 427-4830 to schedule required assessment and advisor appointments prior to registration.

GED Testing

The General Education Development (GED) Test is administered by appointment only, to persons 18 years of age or older. The GED is available in English and Spanish. Credit may be granted toward an ADULT high school diploma. There is a $150 testing fee. We accept cash or money orders.  Call 427-4830 for an appointment or further information.
